Should a freelancer go down to the client39;s office for an unconfirmed job

I have a client who needs services from me. When i sent my quotation over and asks them if it fits their budget, they did not answer but told me to make a trip down to the office so they can get to know me first. I had the experience of insincere clients who dig ideas for free during the consultation and then never follow up in closing the deal due to their unrealistic budget. Should i spend half a day traveling down and talk to them for free just for a small project?.--Answer1:In general when dealing with potential clients diplomacy is key before and after the signing takes place. It is helpful to include travel costs "overtly" or hidden when creating a budget. You are aware that there are clients out there that who would rather to leech ideas off individuals for whatever justification they may have. The key is because you are aware of this you can now set the stage to handle any questions that you may deem as them receiving free consultation. A work around is available if you have experience. Your experience / past work / referrals should speak for itself. Based upon your posting, I get the feeling the job may not be worth it. Just make sure you are bringing to all your future jobs the WISDOM you have acquired from your previous dealings and not the "negative baggage". I started off working on the little fish diligently and now I am catching whales (Business wise)
