My friend and I are making a business that delivers your basic groceries to your door. Because some people dont want to go out and stuff. Do you think the business would succeed? Would you sign up for it? And do you think we could do it? and how much would YOU pay for it? Answer1:In these economic times, you would be hard pressed to find a market for such a service. People are struggling to buy groceries. Answer2:Peapod already offers this service. A starting company with pre-existing competition in hard economic times is not going to do very well. Answer3:HiWhen I read you question , the first thing that struck me was the image of Webvan.com who was into similiar kind of business and they went out of business because people were so reluctant to do it . personally I do not think it is a good ideaAnyhow good luck Answer4:Nope, I cant afford it. Elderly people may find it usefull. Check with your local senior center to see if there is a need for this service. Answer5:For the convenience, maybe 10% of the bill up to $15. The problem Peapod and others has identified is that people are reluctant to have other people pick out their food. For example, I want to know when I buy a gallon of milk that the expiration date is far enough away - how do I know I can trust you to look at the expiration dates. The same with meats...I know what I want in a piece of meat, someone else may be a bit different. Then you have to contend with fluctuating gas prices - what do you do when prices revert to say $4/gallon - raise your prices to cover your gas just as people are getting hit by rising food prices? Answer6:It would be hard to get people into it.I think what would be a good idea is buying in bulk items.Like garbage bags cleaners or something, put an ad on the net see if other people are interested in buying the same things in bulk, have a suggestion box for other items.I would like to buy a Blue ray DVD player, if I could find other people to buy them we could order a bunch from china really cheap. Answer7:Old people would love it. Especially if you would put the groceries in their frig and cabinets for them. We paid someone $250 a month to do this for our 88 year old aunt.. Answer8:Yes. The business will succeed.
