Just opened a Thai Restaurant and the restaurant itself is doing well. However, Ive already had to fire 3 waiters, another one possibly today and I just found out that our prep cook *my fiancee* is desperately trying to find a new job.My fiancee quitting makes no sense, I only have her working three days a week, shes always laughing and having fun, but then she says she cant stand it there. I dont know...thats a whole other question right there. The firings were all well founded and had no other choice. Anyways, when you opened your new business did this happen to you? Im getting worried having to constantly restaff. Will this eventually even out and I may have employees sticking around for longer than a month?Thanks!.--Answer1:As an owner, it is your responsibility to determine why the employees are leaving. There is definitely a reason and something that you will fix. It wont go away. You need to set up a "termination letter", which allows each employee to explain the reasons why they arent content working for you. Wishing you the best of luck..--Answer2:The store Ive been working for was completely new. Ive been with the company before it open and I can tell you aside from the manager Im the only one who has. Even gone through 2 district managers. But things are evening out so dont worry Im sure youll be fine. Plus lots of people need jobs these days..--Answer3:There is surely a communication and expectation problem with staff are stressed and threaten to leave or find situations where the owner is dismissing them.Look to yourself and what you are doing to have people be well when they are at work ~ or conversely NOT well at work.If there is an autocratic approach being taken by the owner it will not likely work very well in todays climate with todays people.Talk to your fiance and listen to what she is saying ~ its likely shell tell you the truth. Be large enough to HEAR the truth and make appropriate adjustments.--Answer4:If your GF cant stand working there, you better figure out the problem. As far as firing people, that can happen quite a bit with a new business. Most new restaurants overstaff by 50-100%, expecting to fire or lose half in the first 30 days. But if good people are quitting, you better fix that quickly.
