This Drs office is doing still doing his scheduling and billing on paper. Lets say he hardly submit his claims. He asked find me him a good software, do his data entry and take care of his billing. I can do the billing part from home. How much should I charge this doctor? Im in Fl.--Answer1:It really depends on how much work youre going to get from him, how much time you will need to put into it, and what your time is worth. If you worked in a doctors office and were paid by the hour, how much would you expect to be paid? Use that as your base and estimate how many patients he might see in a day...his staff would book 5 per hour as a minimum. No doctor - unless hes a specialist - devotes more than 10 minutes to each patient, unless hes doing a general physical. Based on an 8 hour day, you might have 40 billings to process per day. Does he work full time or have part time hours only? After that its a case of how many records can you process per hour x the rate per hour that you choose? Are you doing this as an employee or will you be under contract and paid your rate only - taxes etc being your own responsibility? Thats a huge question....because if youre under contract, you need to keep records and receipts of everything, including gas, phone bills, office supplies, etc. Could mean some nice deductions on your income tax.
