Wouldn39;t you think this is a GREAT business opportunity Is my wife CRAZY I don39;t get this

So, right now, my wife (age 23) drives almost 60 miles roundtrip to work at a hair salon. She works 2-3 days per week. On a GOOD month, shell make about $900-1000 for the month (thats including tips!).So...my father owns a building in our hometown, and his business is on one side of the building, and the other side has been vacant for years. He uses it for storage. I told my wife she should try to open a small studio (just 1, maybe two chairs) and work 2-3 days per week in there. She has a pretty nice sized following of clients in our town already...and with a great location, I think itd be great. She says I dont know what Im talking about and it would never work. My dad said she could be in there rent FREE for 6 months! And after that, pay $200 per month. WHERE IS THE RISK??? I told her she could get a $5000 loan to buy her chair, supplies, and remodel the shop to her liking. So...maybe a payment of $150 per month for that?? But it wouldnt take many clients (when she is pocketing 100% of their payment to her!). And what I dont get...is why she is hanging on to her old job like its something amazing...she is making less than $1000 per month! Give this a shot! What would you think?
Answer1:That is a crazy good opportunity!!
Answer2:Is your father a jerk?If not, I dont understand why she wouldnt do it, because that truly is a wonderful opportunity.Maybe she is just really attached to her co workers. Or maybe you guys are in a secure financial situation where she doesnt really care about the money?
Answer3:and what do YOU do for a living??
Answer4:You are right! Shes crazy! Id totally go for it!! Her income cant possibly be your main source (since you sound like such a business man). She should DO IT.
Answer5:Your wife has a lot of other "investments" in her present location. She KNOWS the other workers and their families. She feels bonded to them in some loyal and intimate way. She is known by the clients and has built up a base of customers who would NOT probably drive 30 miles each way just to see her. They would find another stylist.NOW, considering those factors, hear this too: She may have fears galore about going it alone. Women do not have this "courage in the fact of uncertainty" that a man was endowed with (so he could stalk and kill game for meat to feed the woman and children). Her fear level may keep her at this other long way away salon until she falls over. Are you happy that she is earning? Are you boosting her ego with "Well done, wife of mine"? Can you help your dad to fix up and rent the other bit of the building and GIVE you the extra rent instead of having you move your wife away from her present job?Just a few thoughts. Love her and support her, or it will go hard with your relationship. WE can see the options you suggest, but we are not married to you. PLEASE do not bug her about this. love her and "Live and let live."This is your substitute grandmother speaking!!!!!!!And how do you make a living, Sir?
Answer6:The first thing that popped into my head is...maybe theres something along those 60 round-trip miles shes not willing to give up because this is an incredible deal! Especially for someone so young...Either shes scared of change, insecure with her abilities, dislikes your dad (maybe she doesnt want the in-laws to get in the know of her personal business), or theres something along her route she doesnt want to give up thats keeping her from jumping on this great opportunity.
Answer7:I would so go for this she is the crazy one she has the chance to live a dream that only most wish they could have. Tell her to go for it clients will follow her and they will tell everyone else as well.
Answer8:Hey FromTheTop -Interesting dilemma.Without knowing you, or her, I can only speculate as to what is going on.She likes the security of a job.Being an employee, and being a business owner or employer, are two different worlds.Good luck!
