Hello, I have a quick question on selling my home baked goods, does anyone know if I would need UPC codes
Answer1:UPC codes would be the least of your troubles. (And no, you wouldnt necessarily need UPC codes - depends what store you sell to, and if THEY care about the UPC codes)You biggest hurdle is getting a commercial kitchen. its extremely difficult for a home kitchen to be cleared for commercial use - to sell food products made there to the public. If you have any dogs or cats - its impossible. In that case, you would need to have a separate structure. For a small operation, often the easiest way around the "commercial kitchen" problem is to RENT space in an already established kitchen during their down time. Some bakeries take a day off - maybe you could see if theyd be willing to rent you the space on the day that theyre closed.
