I39;m considering starting my own consulting business what are some of the pitfalls I will need to know

What do I need in the form of Insurances? Do I need to hire a CPA to do my taxes or can I do them on my own? Any Suggestions?
Answer1:What field will you offer your expertise in? What kind of consultant?
Answer2:I only hire consultants that dont look for business advice on yahoo answers. Just so you know.
Answer3:In a down economy, consultants are the first thing let go.
Answer4:some considerations:1) depending on the business, you may opt to get professional liability insurance. this will shield you from liability suits from clients. 2) you will probably spend the majority of your time doing sales and marketing. be sure to budget for that.3) maybe in year 2-3, you may consider changing the legal entity. but probably not necessary in year 1.4) you dont need to hire a cpa, but be sure to create separate accounts and books for you the company and you the individual.5) if you dont have any employees, then you dont have to worry about other types of insurance, paperwork or tax considerations.
