New business idea, but copycat problem

Everyone knows about those entertainment books, that offer coupons or just advertise for businesses in the surrounding area. However, they offer such a broad area that usually you need to travel more to use all the coupons. So my idea was to start one just for my town. This way people would have a more practical use for the coupon book since they would be offered in their everyday surroundings, rather than wanting to use this Subway coupon but have to travel 30 min. away just to use it at that location. So my problem is if this would be allowed, or could the other entertainment book come at me with legal problems and all? Thanks!
Answer1:Value coupons are not protected by intellectual property laws. There is nothing original about the broader concept. As long as you dont try and pass of your vouchers as being affiliated with the entertainment book you have no probs. You could even try and to poach their advertisers and business. Thats usually within the spirit of free enterprise and competition.
