I would love to open up a homemade dollcraft store Is it illegal to make and sell from patterns

I wouldnt sell them as my own idea, I just want to make and sell items like afghans, dolls and doll clothes. I dont know much about copyright laws.
Answer1:No, it is not illegal at all. You have the right to make and sell clothing made from patterns, or copied from others designs. You may not misrepresent them as being made by licensed brands, but you are otherwise free to make and sell whatever you create. Good luck in your business.
Answer2:its not illegal, its only illegal to sell the pattern itself. i sell originals and made from patterns to a store and ive never encountered a problem. i have asked the same question too.. If you would want to hear the answer though I would suggest to contact a lawyer and ask. Just tell them you have one question, it may cost the time of the phone call but its worth putting your mind at ease. Actually if you are going to open a store you will need a good lawyer anyway! Just to make sure everything is in order and if any crazys want to sue you for something stupid..Youll see copyrights on the patterns but again, it is for the pattern only..
Answer3:Absolutely illegal! Patterns like Simplicity, McCalls, etc are copyrighted and you may only use them to make things for your personal use. You are expressly barred from using them for any commercial purpose. They can sue you, take all of your stock and destroy it, take all of your assets, etc, for violating their rights if you use their designs & patterns for anything but your personal use.You have to invent your own designs and copyright and/or patent them. See your nearest Intellectual Property attorney. They are the most expensive type of attorney there is, but it is a very difficult technical area. Missteps will cost you everything. You will need the attorney to copyright & patent your designs & inventions, and trademark your logo.
