I have a very old recipe my grandmother had, no one else in the family makes it but me every year- Now , I have several people wanting me to make it,so they can purchase it from me? I thought and thought , but I have no idea how youd get a recipe patented? Please , someone tell me- Thank-you-I dont want to get into trouble selling it , but I cant continue to make it and just give it away?
Answer1:YOU DONT PATENT RECIPES YOU COPYRIGHT THEMGoogle "Free Samples Patents Foot"
Answer2:You should ask for professional legal advice in your country, from an attorney specialising in intellectual property law. Im not sure if its patent or copyright but if patent, there is a certain procedure. Also a high cost.
Answer3:Its better to copyright recipes than to patent them.To legally copy right something, all you have to is write or type the the copyright symbol on your song, article etc. with your name date and time. However, in order for your invention to get protection, you need to register it. The fee for registering to copyright something is $30Well, I hope this helps. I put an link to a website where you can register to copyright
