For my english class but im having trouble with the format;I have to write a letter to a poet of my choice heres my letter; My AdressMy City state zipdateWilliam Shakespeare212 Sonnet LaneStratford, EnglandDear William Shakespeare,Hello my name is Nonya Nonya.I am 15 years old and i attend High School for Blah Blah.Im writing this letter to tell you how much I love and admire all of your work, but my favorite is My mistresses eyes are nothing like the sun.In this poem your use of Imagery is great.Like when you said "Coral is far more red than her lips red"I could really picture her pale lips.I also liked your Point of view in the poem.Even though the Narrator is not in the poem you know what hes thinking so its like your in the story looking at his mistress.I love the metaphors and similes in this poem.My mistresses eyes are nothing like the sun I like how you compare the two.My absolute favorite thing about the poem is the fact that its not a traditional love poem.Instead of saying your voice is like a beautiful song you say "love to hear her speak, yet well I know That music hath a far more pleasing sound".You end the poem by saying even though she is not perfect you love her for who she really is.I wonder how do you get your ideas for all of your poems?Did growing up in Stratford England inspire you?Or was it your older wife Anne Hathaway?Hopefully one day I could become as great a writer as you were.Thank you for your time.I look forward to reading your work in the futureSincerely,Nonya Nonya
Answer1:Try something like this....Dear Mr. ShakespeareMy name is Nonya Nonya. I am 15 years old and attend Blah Blah High School.I am writing to you today to express my admiration for your work. If I had to choose a favorite it would certainly have to be My Mistresses Eyes Are Nothing Like The Sun. The line "Coral is far more red than her lips red" contains such vivid imagery that I had no doubt as to the paleness of her lips. I am especially captured by the fact that this work is not a traditional love poem. It allows the reader to understand that even though the narrator loves the mistress he is aware that she is not perfect. "My mistresses eyes are nothing like the sun" and "Love to hear her speak, yet well I know that music hath a far more pleasing sound" are wonderful examples of her imperfect existence. However in the end of the poem the narrator makes it clear that even with these imperfections he loves her for who she is. I find myself wondering where the ideas for your poems such as this one come from. Did growing up in Stratford England inspire you? Perhaps you older wife Anne Hathaway provided the inspiration?I hope to one day become a great writer like you. Thank you for your time. I look forward to reading more of your works in the future.SincerelyNonya Nonya
