Answer3:as one example, stylists pay a "rent" for a space and they collect their money on their own and are responsible for all other aspects (paying their own taxes, etc.). so the salon owner is basically like an apartment complex- supplying power, water, and appropriate fixtures. the stylists typically provide everything else. Thats the extreme. the supercuts thing is more of an employee arrangement where the stylists are paid either hourly or per job done. there are of course many other arrangements in between these two extremes
Answer4:Some treat the other stylists as employees others go with the leasing.When a stylists leases the booth she/he is responsible for all taxes, insurance, supplies but also can deduct all costs of doing business.This type of setup benefits the shop owner since in lessens his/her responsibility and liability
Answer5:An owner could either rent out a booth to an employee on a weekly basis..or pay the employee commission (usually 45-70%, depending on experience or how much clientele a stylist has). Very rare do owners pay salary though. I worked at 6 salons, and I have to say I liked the salary plus commission type of work (extremely rare).
