Im trying to start my own ebay business by selling wholesale goods. The wholesale company Im looking to get into requires a Certificate of Authority to Collect Sales Tax before you can sign up with them. I dont want to charge sales tax on ebay items because Im afraid it will make selling harder. Are there wholesale companies that DONT require you to collect sales tax on their goods?

What they are requiring is that you prove that you are a legitimate business by providing a copy of your State Resales License, sometimes called a sales tax ID.Collecting Sales tax for Ebay Sales would only be required for Sales you made to people within your State, or the State where your Ebay Business is located. Any Sale you made outside of your State would not require you to collect Sales tax.Sales taxes you collect from in-state sales would then be remitted to your state government on a quarterly basis.Check with your State Department of Revenue for the requirements needed to acquire a State Tax ID.
